TruthFinder, Spokeo, and sites like these are commercially available resources. Most of these types of sites have free versions in addition to paid versions. Can sites like these compare to the services that a private investigator offers?

Sites like the ones mentioned above are notorious for providing inaccurate or out of date information. When researching information on an individual, there are a few main things you are looking to get. Getting a combination of things like phone numbers, addresses, full names, and social media presences will increase your chances of pinpointing how to find that person in question.

So, how do these commercially available sites fair when it comes to finding this type of information? If you have the time, you can test out their accuracy for yourself. Type in information that you know for sure to be accurate about a person. Such as their phone number and name or name and address. Do this for a number of the people you know. Then see what accuracy rate you find these sites to have that way. This is a good exercise for you to see if these sites are worth your time or not. We have found that their success rate is not that high, which is not ideal when you are trying to find important information fast as opposed to just casually browsing for information to satisfy your curiosity.

If you are searching for someone and would like to find them sooner rather than later, a private investigator is still your best option. Private investigators have access to professional databases that are not available to the public. These databases tend to be far more accurate than commercially available databases. These resources in conjunction with the years of experience that private investigators bring to the table mean that a PI can find the information or person you are looking for in a much swifter manner.
